Today, I'm sharing with you two case studies on individuals who were treated using the DMR Method. One sought treatment to alleviate migraine headaches, and the other patient experienced severe neck and back pain radiating to the arm. If you're just learning about this advanced, nonsurgical care for neck and back pain, take a moment to learn a little bit about what the DRM Method is

DMR Method Case Study #1 Migraine Headaches

The DMR Method: Patient Case Studies from an Innovative Treatment OptionNicole had issues with severe migraines her entire life. Sitting created a lot of tension and pain in her neck and upper back, and even into her right shoulder at times. Her migraines significantly affected both her job and personal life. Migraines and the resulting pain caused Nicole to miss work and take prescription medications on a regular basis.

Diagnosis

An X-ray exam revealed mild scoliosis of Nicole's cervical spine and forward head posture. Further, DMR Method Evaluation revealed severe fixation/subluxation of the upper cervical spine and upper thoracic spine. Nicole's experience of extensive muscle spasm, as well as ligament and joint capsule restriction, also formed her diagnosis.

Treatment

Treatment included the Chronic DMR Method protocol with a focus on Integrative Progressive Manipulation (IPM) and Dynamic Muscle Technique (DMT). A cervical extension wedge was prescribed for home use.

Outcome

Nicole's migraines were completely alleviated through following the DMR Method treatment plan. Four months later, Nicole stated, "This is the best I have ever felt." She has now resumed all normal physical activity and no longer misses work due to migraines.

DMR Method Case Study #2 Severe Neck Pain Radiating into the Arm

Michael presented with severe neck pain rated at 10/10 that radiated into his left shoulder and arm. The pain, which Michael described as sharp, was affecting his posture and severely limiting the mobility in his neck. He couldn't sleep comfortably and awoke from pain multiple times during the night. His condition had begun 15 years earlier after a car accident and had been progressively getting worse. No previous treatment had helped. His ability to be physically active had become extremely limited.

Diagnosis

Following examination and imaging, he was diagnosed with:

  • Multiple levels of cervical disc herniation
  • Degenerative disc disease, severe subluxation (altered spinal alignment and mobility causing nerve irritation)
  • Muscle spasm

Treatment

The DMR Method chronic cervical protocol was prescribed with a focus on chiropractic adjustments (Integrated Progressive Mobilization), Dynamic Muscle Technique (DMR), cervical traction, and progressive exercise and stretching instruction to stabilize his recovery.

Outcome

Michael's symptoms completely resolved. His full range of motion was restored, and for the first time in years, he could sleep through the night without waking from pain. He continues with his home exercise and stretching program has resumed normal physical activity, and returns periodically for maintenance care.

Michael's case underscores the tragic and degenerative effects of deficient mobility, alignment, and stability. It also demonstrates that coordinated care which focuses on the restoration of mobility, alignment, and stability effectively decreases symptoms, stops the progression of degeneration, and improves the quality of daily life

Nicole's case demonstrates how the DMR Method is a safe, effective treatment for individuals whose migraine headaches interfere with multiple areas of daily life.
